MEMBERSHIP PAGE

VbDC Volleyball Club is a membership-based club which is affiliated to Volleyball England. In order to train or play for one of its teams you need to become a member. While the club works very closely with the ACS International Schools to provide a year-round opportunity for its pupils to play volleyball VbDC Volleyball Club has no direct connection other than as a sports services supplier to the school. Through the school's support the club is able to offer a low membership fee which covers one training session a week.

By joining VbDC Volleyball Club you are agreeing to abide by its Code of Conduct and Expectations for Players detailed below.

Code of Conduct

We expect all players, coaches and parents associated with VbDC Volleyball Club to conduct themselves in the following manner:

  • Supportive: Volleyball is a team sport and working together is necessary for success. Mistakes will happen on the court just as they do in life – be sure to encourage and support one another.
  • Respectful: Players, opponents, coaches and officials will be treated with respect at all times.
  • Positive: Sport is much more enjoyable when it is fun for everyone! VbDC VC promotes a positive and friendly environment for its players and families.
  • Kind: Being nice to one another is paramount to enjoyment and success – mean or menacing behaviour (including bullying, teasing and unsportsmanlike conduct) will not be tolerated.

Expectations for Players

This is to ensure all players, and parents, understand what to expect during match play:

  • Do Your Best: You will make mistakes, and that’s okay! The goal is to make progress and have fun – nobody is expecting perfection, so please do not put pressure on yourself to be perfect – mistakes are a part of this game.
  • Playing Time: The coach will make every effort to give each attending players court time during a match. Players, however, must trust their coach to decide how much court time each player will get. It will be a professional judgement made by the coach according to each match circumstance. If an athlete wishes to discuss playing time with the coach this must take place before or after a training session and the discussion is between the athlete and the coach only.  If a parent wishes to discuss the matter further a meeting must be set up, but only after the coach and athlete have had their initial meeting.  No such discussions will be permitted to take place preceding, during, or immediately following a competitive event. An athlete's eligibility for future events with the club may be jeopardised by failure to follow this procedure.

Saftey Measures

The safety of players, their families, coaches and everyone involved in running the club is our principle consideration, so while  everyone hopes such requirements are short lived, for the time being everybody must abide by the following measures:

  • All sessions and matches MUST be pre-booked on-line. This is due to restrictions on numbers allowed in the hall at any one time.
  • Anyone displaying symptoms, or in a household with anyone displaying symptoms of either Covid or other infectious illnesses, may not attend sessions
  • Drivers transporting athletes must drop off and pick up the athletes at the designated car park (Car Park A)
  • Spectators are allowed on the balcony, but not the sports hall floor.
  • If you are an athlete, parent or coach driving to the venue you must park in Car Park B and walk to the sports center along the path between the athletics track and the pitch.
  • Young children not involved in volleyball activity must be supervised at ALL times while on site.

Anti-doping

As a Volleyball England affiliated club  we adopt their anti-doping policy which can be found here.
